We are thrilled that as part of the next chapter of Expanse’s journey, we have entered into a definitive agreement to join Palo Alto Networks, the world’s leading cybersecurity company. The proposed acquisition is expected to close in Palo Alto Networks’ fiscal second-quarter subject to the satisfaction of regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
From the beginning, we set out to build the world’s most powerful tools to secure the Internet. We are extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished. Since launching Expander in 2016, we have helped our customers — which include Fortune 500 organizations in financial, healthcare, entertainment, and technology industries, and mission-critical government organizations, including the U.S. military — discover, manage, and secure their Internet attack surfaces.
Coming off an exceptional year of growth in 2020, we looked to our future and were determined to scale even faster to pursue our vision. When we surveyed our options, one stood out above the rest. Joining forces with Palo Alto Networks will let us achieve our most important business goals years ahead of schedule. During the course of conversations with Palo Alto Networks leadership, we shared optimism that the right combination of technology and people can solve many cybersecurity challenges that to date have seemed intractable.
Having been born in the spirit of DARPA, “zero to one” moments run deep in our team’s DNA, and we were highly motivated by the idea that we could create differentiated and surprising value for the world’s largest organizations. We will be pursuing this through greater automation of security workflows, joining Internet data with local network data for those who opt-in, and creating the first truly universal commercial cloud visibility — all of which have been priority areas communicated by our top customers.
We are deeply grateful for the support of our customers and partners, and are excited for what more this will allow us to accomplish and create together.
