Tim has over a decade of operational and academic experience in cybersecurity and large-scale distributed sensing. Prior to co-founding Expanse, he worked at DARPA, RAND Corporation, Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the CIA. He was a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University and remains an affiliate, occasionally lecturing and mentoring students on cybersecurity. Tim holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Johns Hopkins University.

Matt is an expert in large-scale optimization, distributed sensing, and machine learning algorithms run on massively parallel systems. Prior to co-founding Expanse, Matt worked for DARPA, including a deployment to Afghanistan. Matt holds Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering, and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, all from Stanford University.

Kane has over 20 years’ experience across the cybersecurity sector, having led go-to-market teams internationally at multiple early to mid-stage cybersecurity companies. Most recently, Kane led the Enterprise Sales GTM for the Americas at Carbon Black to and through a successful IPO (NASDAQ:CBLK) and subsequent acquisition by VMware. Kane has also held senior leadership positions at Imperva (NYSE:IMPV) and Tumbleweed Communications (Acquired by Axway)

Noah has leadership experience in delivery, product, and go-to-market functions in growth-stage SaaS and security, from series A through IPO. Most recently, he held leadership roles in product marketing and professional services at Medallia. Noah has also worked in management consulting and in international development. He holds a BA from UC Berkeley, an MPhil from Cambridge, and an MBA from UCLA.

Joe joined Expanse with more than a decade of experience in national security. Before joining Expanse, he worked at the RAND Corporation and Detica (acquired by BAE Systems), where he helped launch the Strategy and Innovation Group. He was a Non-Resident Fellow at Pacific Forum CSIS and served as an Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Joe holds a Master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University.

Kevan joined Expanse with over 20 years of experience in building software, most recently leading the Apteligent engineering team through its integration with VMware post-acquisition. Before Apteligent, Kevan held engineering leadership and architecture roles at Nuance Communications and Sabrix (acquired by Thomson Reuters). Kevan holds his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Dave is a Founding Partner of Centerview Capital Technology and Knoll Ventures. He is currently Non-Executive Chairman of CVS Health and serves on the boards of PayPal, Dell, and the Georgia Tech Foundation, and is the former Chairman and CEO of AT&T.

Shaun Maguire

Shaun is currently a Partner at Sequoia Capital where he focuses on seed/early-stage ventures. Shaun was previously a partner at GV where he focused on quantum computing and other hard science investments. He previously worked at DARPA and was deployed to Afghanistan. He holds a Ph.D. from Caltech and Master’s degrees from both Stanford and Caltech.
